bannana.gif I realized the only way I can walk Lily is to get a easy walk harness. She pulls my husband and me with just leash. Even though she runs around in the yard, she still needs a daily walk, exception for today that feels like it is in the single digits. w00t.gif I ordered it direct, since Petsmart does not carry the M/L size. She is not done growing at 7 months so I wanted something she can use now and still have plenty of room to grow into. I just can't get over how well this thing works, of course, she still tries to pull a little, but you pull to side a bit and she stops. I just need to get her to heel and walk beside me. She is still all over the place. I am thrilled the pulling has stopped. This is definately a good start to walking my girl.

On another note: We went for a walk yesterday & we encountered a loose dog. I went up this street, I know what dog lives where, just by me walking on my own. Well this white german shepherd, is out of yard and comes over to us. Her tail was wagging. I stayed calm and Lily was scared to death. I want her to get used to other dogs and be calm around them and this happens. Very lucky this was a friendly dog and just wanted to sniff her and looked like she wanted to play. When the owner realized she was out of yard, he apologized and brought her back in, said she is very nice dog that wants to play. How would I know that? I was worried of how I would have handled a nasty dog. Thank heavens it turned out well and we continued on with our walk.

Great news on the harness! I've seen those and can see how they'd work. I'm glad your walks are more enjoyable now.

Yes, you guys are very lucky the loose dog was friendly. Staying calm was about the best thing you could do too. I wonder if the shepherd and Lily could have a play date?

What type of harness did you get? I have been using the Gentle Leader.

I think the EasyWalk is made by the same company as Gentle Leader.

I liked the EasyWalk harness for Oliver, but, with his fur being so short, the harness would chafe under his "armpits" and he got big scabs there, so I switched to the Gentle Leader. It took him a while to get used to it but now he could care less it is there, and his pulling has improved quite a bit, even when I don't use it.

Both are effective and work by the same principle, I would recommend either one to most people.

Good on both parts, whatever works for an easy walk is great and meeting a loose dog on a walk and it turning out to be nice is great too, I know its really hard to stay calm, I try singing a song lol

That is great news that Lily is getting better! I bought Max a gentle leader and...WOW! I couldnt believe the dog that would drag me down the street before was now under pinky control.

Yes, good thing the shephard was friendly! We unfortunately come across a lot of dogs on our walks...thank God we have been lucky so far cause we have only come across friendly ones (for the most part

I have stayed away from this topic but I have to ask - if he doesn't pull then why use the gentle leader? dunno.gif

OMG!!! I SWEAR by the EasyWalk Harness!!!! I always take two at a time, and could not do it without this device!!! bannana.gif bannana.gif (Of course, I am unable to walk right now since Axel took out my knee, but that had nothing to do with the harness dunno.gif )

He *used* to pull all the time, but it has gotten better because of the Gentle Leader. When I was preggo it was hard to walk him because of the pulling, I was already top-heavy lol so I used the GL on him, and once in a while I take it off and we practice walking nicely without it. However, I still need it most of the time, especially when I am walking the baby AND two 65 lb dogs!

My best friend bought us the easy walk harnesses for bogie and coop for my birthday and we LOVE them. They work so great and cooper really calmed down after using them. Only one time he was trying to chase a bird and forgot he had the harness on and he started running and actually flipped around in the air and faced daddy. ROTFLMAO.gif He landed on his feet but he was just like wtf.gif

I'm glad that the harness is working well for you and that cutie patootie lily!

Andi, I am sorry you hurt your knee. It can be dangerous sometimes with these wild boxers. laugh.gif Hope your knee gets better real soon. Tell Axel to give his Mom a knee massage.

I am happy to say that today I took them all for walks.....not as long as usual, but the knee held up bannana.gif bannana.gif We will work up to our regular route in no time. I am quite fortunate that they have been content to just hang with me and not gone nutso w00t.gif
